Using ARGOS

For Researchers

ARGOS adapts to your role, your project, and your level of experience.

Whether you're just getting started or coordinating a full research team, it helps you plan and document your work with confidence.
  • Step 1

Use your institutional, personal or academic email account. No installation or set up is needed.

Your data is secure. ARGOS uses trusted authentication systems and does not collect unnecessary personal information. You stay in control of what is shared, when, and with whom.

    Step 2

    Choose a Blueprint

Start with a ready-made Blueprint prepared by funders, institutions, or communities. Or use the default one and customise it with your own templates.

Blueprints help you plan with structure. They reflect specific policies, outputs, or workflows depending on your needs.

    Step 3

    Fill In the Templates

Complete each section with guided help. ARGOS can also pull in information from other systems to save you time.

You can work at your own pace. ARGOS keeps your plan draft private until you’re ready to share.

    Step 4

    Collaborate with Others

Invite peers, supervisors, or support staff to work with you on the plan. You can choose to give access to the entire plan or to specific sections only, depending on their role or task.

Perfect for team writing, expert input, or departmental reviews.

    Step 5

    Enrich & Connect

Link your plan to real research outputs like datasets, software, workflows, and tools. Create a living connection between planning and doing.

    Step 6

    Assess FAIRness

Use built-in tools like the FAIRness validator to check how well your plan and outputs follow the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

    Step 7

    Share your Plan

Complete adding content and deposit to Zenodo or another repository or share it online via a persistent link.

You decide when and how your plan is shared. ARGOS helps you meet requirements and go beyond them.

  • Early Career Researcher / PhD Student

You're focused on your research. ARGOS helps you meet institutional requirements without getting lost in admin.

    • Choose a template provided by your university
    • Follow step-by-step guidance and examples Fill it in, download it, and submit it—all in one place
    • Update it later as your research evolves No stress. No special knowledge needed.

Researcher or Research team in a collaborative project

“We want to meet our funder’s requirements, but also reflect how each partner handles data.”

Working across institutions or domains? ARGOS makes it easier to coordinate.

    • Combine funder templates with your own institutional or disciplinary ones
    • Assign contributors to different sections
    • Keep your data, software, and workflows clearly documented
    • Align with both compliance and practice

One shared plan. Multiple perspectives. Total clarity.

    Principal Investigator

“I want to make sure we meet the funder’s requirements and manage outputs responsibly.”

As a PI, you need to keep things on track, across policies, people, and outputs.

    • CUse ARGOS to create a funder-compliant DMP
    • Collaborate with your team to complete and review it
    • Link real research outputs, tools, and contributors
    • Update the plan over time to reflect what’s actually happening

Meet the rules. Support your team. Document the science.
